Privacy Policy

Last updated: January 31, 2025

Introduction

Hearly ("we", "our", or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what data we access, how it is used, and your rights regarding that data.

The most important thing to know: All audio processing happens entirely on your device. We do not collect, transmit, or store your audio data on any server.

Data We Access

Microphone

Hearly requires microphone access to capture ambient sound and deliver amplified audio to your headphones. Microphone audio is processed in real-time on your device and is never recorded, transmitted, or stored unless you explicitly use the recording feature. Recordings are saved locally on your device only.

Bluetooth

We access Bluetooth to detect and connect to your headphones or hearing devices. No Bluetooth data is collected or shared.

HealthKit (Optional)

If you choose to share your audiogram data from Apple Health, we use it to personalize your amplification profile. This data is read locally and never leaves your device.

Hearing Test Results

If you take the built-in hearing test, results are stored locally on your device to create personalized sound profiles. These results are never uploaded to any server.

Purchase Information

Subscription purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not have access to your payment information, credit card details, or Apple ID.

How We Use Your Data

Data We Do NOT Collect

Third-Party Sharing

We do not share any data with third parties. Period. There are no analytics providers, advertising networks, or data brokers involved in this app.

Data Storage & Retention

All data (preferences, hearing profiles, recordings) is stored locally on your device using iOS secure storage. Data persists as long as the app is installed. When you delete the app, all associated data is permanently removed from your device.

Data Deletion

You can delete your data at any time:

Children's Privacy

Hearly is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since the app does not collect any personal data, no special provisions are needed. However, we recommend parental supervision when children use hearing amplification features to ensure safe listening levels.

Security

Since all data remains on your device and is managed by iOS, your data benefits from Apple's built-in device encryption and security features (Face ID, Touch ID, device passcode).

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights under data protection laws (such as GDPR or CCPA). Since Hearly does not collect personal data, most data subject requests are not applicable. However, if you have any questions about your rights, please contact us.
